Therapy Program

We have designed a complete and integrated program of alternative therapy which should be applicable to almost any disease commonly afflicting people. Of course, there are plenty of medical conditions for which this program will not be applicable – if you fall and damage your hip, you will need specialized treatment. But if your illness is based on the encroachments of some virus, as in cancer, HIV, or even bird flu, or if your illness is just a deterioration of your natural state of optimum health, as in chronic fatigue syndrome, you should find this program highly beneficial.

I should emphasize right away that this program must be considered “experimental.” All material offered here is for informational purposes only. If, anywhere on this site, we seem to suggest that following this program will cure any disease, you must understand that as a purely speculative presumption. We must recommend that you seek the advice of a qualified medical professional before implementing any of these ideas.
Before introducing the specific aspects of our treatment protocol, I want to start out with a philosophy of health and disease. On another web site, on a page devoted to philosophical speculations, I have an article called The Cause and Cure of Disease. That article contains additional links to a whole system of philosophy, which may appear daunting, and not even especially relevant to the state of your health, but the applications to health are clear and simple. Basically, the idea is that there exists a continuum which is not linear, but consists of a point of perfection and clarity at the center (“God”), with an infinite number of directions extending outward towards, initially, Novelties, followed by ever greater states of Complexity, which then becomes, further out, Confusion, followed finally by Chaos, or complete disintegration. This pattern applies to many things besides just personal health, but, as it applies to health, that point at the center represents perfect, radiant health, while every point away from that, running out on any of those infinite number of lines, goes further and further away from good health, until the final state of chaos is reached, which, of course, represents the death of the organism.
Furthermore, all “good things” will converge at that central point. As you get closer to that point at the center, not only will your health improve, but your business and personal affairs will prosper, and everything will seem to fall into place effortlessly. On the other hand, as you move away from that point, not only will your health fail, but other aspects of your life will fall apart – you will shout at your wife and children, your business affairs will suffer, etc. Every aspect of our therapy program is designed to bring your whole life organism closer to that center of peace, love, happiness, and radiant health.
Here follows our therapy program in all essential details –
1. Do No Harm. It is not at all reasonable to suppose that you can take some miracle drugs, supplied to you by the smiling minions of the Pharmaceutical Industry, which will restore you to health while you continue with the practices and diet that have destroyed your health in the first place. It is useless, for example, to take a double shot of wheat grass juice, only to follow it up with coffee and doughnuts, followed by smoking a cigarette – you might as well round it off with a shot of turpentine, which, of course, will kill you immediately.
So the first article of our therapy program is to discontinue all of those practices, habits, and dietary problems which, in some combination, have probably led to the disintegration of your personal health. First of all, if you smoke (anything at all – tobacco, cannabis, crack, damiana, etc.) you must immediately quit. That’s it. If you are unable to quit smoking, read no further – take out some insurance for your family, and then throw yourself in front of a train and be done with it. You must also quit using all illegal and/or toxic drugs (in which I include just about all pharmaceutical drugs – they are not healing you; they are killing you). As to alcohol, there seems to be a consensus that one glass of red wine in the evenings will improve your health and extend your life, but this may be due more to the presence of the red grape than the alcohol – try taking red grape juice instead. In any case, any further indulgence in alcohol beyond this limit has increasingly serious consequences upon the state of your health.
Probably next in importance comes fried foods. According to my research, the ingestion of fried foods (doughnuts, French fries, potato chips, fried chicken, etc.) is probably the worst health hazard imaginable, rivaled only by smoking cigarettes, and that shot of turpentine. In fact, we recommend that ALL OIL (with the exception of hemp seed oil or flax seed oil as detailed below) should be completely eliminated from your diet, as much as possible. Also on the proscribed list are coffee, black tea, carbonated soft drinks, sugar, and salt, along with prepared foods, packaged foods, convenience foods, and fast foods. Of course small quantities of sugar and salt are all but inevitable, and, in the case of salt, a certain amount of salt is necessary for good health, but – trust me on this one! – unless you are living on the dark side of the moon, eating only natural products, you will be getting far more salt in your diet than is good for you. You may safely eliminate salt from your diet wherever possible without worrying about any deficiency.
You may find other bad stuff to ingest, but I think I have covered the main offenders.
2. Ozone Steam Sauna. The daily use of the ozone steam sauna is the principle medical treatment recommended on this site. The Main Page contains numerous references to the medical benefits of oxygen and ozone. We have found a company that manufactures a suitable sauna cabinet that is designed to be used with the ozone equipment, which they also sell (Longevity Resources, Canada). See: Steam Sauna Cabinets, Ozone Generators, and Oxygen Concentrators. The complete package of this equipment will run about $7500, but this is the only major expense, and will be less than the cost of a single person spending any time in a health clinic, and with a few patients sharing the cost, it makes abundant sense to set up your own equipment.
If you can’t manage to set up an ozone sauna, or you can’t afford it, a simple alternative (but probably not as effective) is to take a warm bath every day, or every other day, in which you add a quart or so of ordinary 3% hydrogen peroxide from your drugstore. Avoid getting it in your eyes. If you take such a bath or sauna every day, you may want to get some pure, unscented jojoba oil to put on your skin afterwards, to keep it from drying out.
3. Negative Ions. Exposure to negatively ionized air has been shown to increase oxygenation of the lungs, vital capacity, and ciliary activity. All types of beneficial responses take place as a result of friendly negative ions. Negative Ion Generators are widely available at moderate cost.
The Health Diet –
4. Organic Concord Grapes, with Seeds. Concord grapes (or other dark purple varieties) contain numerous ingredients that promote health, and the seeds are an important part of the package. These may be taken first thing in the morning in place of breakfast, either as whole grapes, or blended up into a mush to make the seeds more palatable. It is important to take the grapes first thing in the morning, and do not combine them with any other food or drink.
5. Wheat Grass Juice. Wheat grass juice is an incredibly powerful agent of good health. Like the grapes, the wheat grass juice is so powerful as to be claimed as a “cure for cancer” all by itself. However, as with the “grape cure,” it is necessary to take nothing but wheat grass in order for it to be effective. We take the approach that it is better, more effective, and more pleasant, to take all of the agencies of cure, combined into a sensible diet, rather than to make an exclusive fast on just one food. The wheat grass should be cultivated – it isn’t really hard. Get a big bag of fresh, live, organic wheat berries from your health food store, and sprout them in garden trays, using a natural potting medium (soil can be used, if you are confident that you have good, healthy, organic soil). Make sure your sprouts get plenty of light. When the sprouts are about six inches high, cut them with scissors and put them in a wheat grass juicer. A wheat grass juicer is different from a juicer designed to make carrot juice – it works by tightly compressing the wheat grass to squeeze out the juice. It is best to have about ten garden trays mounted on a rack, with narrow spaces between levels on the bottom, and larger spaces as you go up. As the sprouts grow, move them to higher shelves; start new trays on the bottom shelves. A simple rack can be built with ½" white plastic plumbing pipe, a plastic tubing cutter, fittings (Ts, elbows, etc.) and a can of cement. Once you get this system going on, it is easy, and well worth the trouble!
We present our dietary recommendations in the order in which they might be served in the day. The wheat grass should be served at least two hours after the grapes. We like to take a double shot of wheat grass juice every day.
6. Hemp Seed Oil with Cottage Cheese and Ground Flax Seed (with Walnuts & Coconut). This is a more important item of the diet than you might think. The original Budwig Diet called for flax seed oil, but hemp seed oil is even better. We like to combine them, using ground organic fresh flax seed with hemp seed oil. This will be the first substantial food of the day, and it can be supplemented with fresh, organic walnuts and, if available, fresh organic coconut.
7. Juice: Carrot, Beet, Wolfberry, Mangosteen, with Spirulina and Chlorella. Don’t worry if you can’t find wolfberry or mangosteen (fresh fruit or juice) to add to your blend of carrot juice and beet juice, but you should be able to find either or both of spirulina and chlorella. Of course, always use organic carrots and beets.
8. Green Tea and Seaweed. If you have put a couple of hours between these courses, you should be taking the juice above by around Noon or 1:00 p.m. Next up is Four O’Clock Tea, by which we mean green tea, not black tea. We like to serve this with dried seaweed, just for something to munch on while drinking the tea. The seaweed provides essential minerals, including trace minerals. There are several varieties which can be used: Japanese nori, or, my own favorite: sea palm.
9. Dinner. Quite a bit of variation can be used within the same basic program for dinner – a green salad with raw vegetables, soy sprouts, walnuts, etc.; steamed vegetables; brown rice; tofu, with flax seed, garlic, ginger, and turmeric. Hemp seed oil can be used on the salad or vegetables. The tofu dish should be steamed, not sautéed.
10. Tono-Bungay. “Tono-Bungay” is the name I use for my own special blend of mostly Chinese tonic herbs. (The name comes from an excellent novel of the same name by H. G. Wells.) The “tonic herbs” are a special class of Chinese herbs which are all good. There are no side effects, so these herbs may be used as food rather than medicine. They all have a similar style of functioning – they promote a normalizing of all bodily functions, leading to improved health on all levels. This brew is also a very potent detoxifying agent. It tastes wonderful, and has a powerful energetic punch that you can feel, much the way you immediately feel the effects of a shot of wheat grass. The commercial source for these herbs is Hong Kong, but I used to purchase them in Chinatown, San Francisco. If you search for these herbs, you should find a number of mail order sources for them. If I find a good source to recommend, I will enter it here. I take about a tablespoon of each herb and cook it in a stainless steel pot with about two gallons of fresh water. (Traditionally, it is brewed in a ceramic vessel within a double boiler, but I just boil the herbs.) The herbs should be boiled, and not just steeped. Furthermore, the following day, or when the “first cook” of herbs is finished, it is possible to cook the herbs a second time and obtain a lesser brew, but also still quite potent. It is served as a tea. The presence of the Chinese licorice makes it naturally sweet – no additional sugar should be added.
Here is the list of herbs – Ginseng, Astragalus, Chinese Licorice, Fo-ti (Polyganum multiflorum), Lycium chinensis (Wolfberry), Schizandra chinensis, Jujube Dates, Gingko Leaf, Ginger, Cinnamon, Orange Peel, Lemon Peel, & Hibiscus (Roselle). Make sure the citrus peels are organic.
We serve this tea in the evenings, around 9:00 p.m.

11. Vitamins: B, C, E, A, D; Minerals: Selenium, Zinc, Magnesium, Coral Calcium; Other: Echinacea, Gingko, Milk Thistle, L-Lysine, L-Proline, CoEnzyme Q10; Commercial Products: Vitalzym, Barley Power, Aloe Immune, Essense Health Blend (these may be found with an internet search). Of course, as previously mentioned, individual patients might modify or augment this list for their own needs according to the recommendations of their physician or their own research.
12. Yoga – Breathing and Meditation. Finally, we wish to emphasize that the practice of yoga, both breathing exercises as well as meditation, will have a very important effect upon your progress towards better health. There are many resources for these practices, but it doesn’t have to be unnecessarily complicated. For the breathing exercises, simply compose your body and concentrate on your breathing, trying to breathe deeply in a smooth and regular flow. Hopefully, you will do this in the presence of adequate oxygen! If you are living in oxygen starved or polluted cities such as London, Mexico City, or Delhi, leave the city and go up to the mountains in search of some air to breathe. For the meditation, there are a great many systems, but it is enough to compose your mind as well as your body and try to find that center of perfection, peace, love, joy, clarity, and radiant good health that we mentioned at the beginning of this article.
